BUS2Talk: Charging electric buses – Easy, efficient and user-friendly
Guest: Jens Conrad, Senior Sales Manager DACH at Kempower
The rollout of electric buses brings challenges for today's vehicle charging infrastructure. In this podcast, Jens Conrad, Senior Sales Manager DACH at Kempower, explains how smart charging management works.
Buses running on electricity help the bus transport industry combat climate change. We at BUS2BUS know that electrification doesn't just suddenly happen. Operators of small and medium-sized fleets usually start with two or three electric buses and gradually expand their fleet with more e-vehicles. This poses major challenges for many fleet operators. How should a charging infrastructure be planned so that it grows with the fleet – without requiring major construction? Mission-essential in terms of efficiency is that the charging processes are intelligently controlled. Charging management is only cost-efficient when fleet vehicles make full use of the installed power.
Jens Conrad, Senior Sales Manager DACH at Kempower, explains how a charging system becomes scalable and smart. It is important to understand that a charging station doesn't work like a conventional gas station. The mobility expert believes that in two to five years, Germany will be on the same level as pioneering countries like Norway and Holland when it comes to electrification. Listen to the podcast and find out how this will be achieved.
