BUS2TALK: THE WORLD OF MINIBUSES WITH TREMONIA MOBILITY
Tremonia Mobility was set up on 1 January 2022. Despite sounding like a new name, the company is a well-established player in the bus industry. From 1998 onwards, as part of the Daimler Group, the manufacturer was known as Mercedes Benz Minibus. In the BUS2Talk podcast studio at BUS2BUS 2024 Totinia Hörner talked to Christian Wünsch, head of development and product management at Tremonia Mobility, about the previous advantages of being part of the Daimler Group and the flexibility that being an independent company now brings, particularly with a view to electromobility. ”For various reasons it was not possible to realise electromobility within the group“, says Wünsch. At BUS2BUS, Tremonia presented two electric vehicles, the low-floor City 75 ELECTRIC and the smaller City 45 ELECTRIC minibus.
According to Christian Wünsch, a minibus is a good choice for customers taking their first steps with electromobility. ”They are a bit easier to manage than large buses as far as the charging infrastructure is concerned“, he says. To find out how minibuses can contribute to public transport, why Christian Wünsch sees self-driving minibuses coming into service sooner rather than later, and what it means to him to see one of the products he has helped design on the roads in Berlin, Spain or Italy, listen in to the current episode of BUS2Talk.
